Job Title: Delphi Programmer Analyst
Department: Information Technology
Reports To: Application Development Manager
Salary: 55-65K +7% bonus, up to 12% salary increase 1st year, 401k + more
Location: Columbus, OH
Summary:
Responsible for development of code components adding or altering functionality provided by our software applications, through the implementation of business and system requirements. Provides guidance to Programmers and works under direction of Senior Programmer Analysts.
Hiring Manager Notes:
Must have:
•2-5 years of programming experience in Delphi .
Nice To have
•Experience programming SQL and working with DB2
•Experience programming in Delphi
•Experience in the insurance industry
Other considerations
• Both developers will be working for the Operations Application Development team on a number of significant projects. These include implementing a new printing solution and rewriting a Delphi-based policy management system in C#.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Adheres to all policies and procedures, as outlined in the Associate’s Handbook. Receives advice on these guidelines during all stages of project development.
Verifies and documents intent, functions, features, data requirements, input requirements, output requirements, internal and external checks and controls, hardware and operating system environment, and interfaces with other systems for software applications utilized in our IT environment.
Provides training and instruction to Programmers in our development practices and procedures, nature and scope of applications utilized, and related topics.
Works with Senior Programmer Analysts and others in the design and preparation of Systems Requirements Documents, and related supporting documentation, and directs the work of Programmers on such documents.
Converts business and systems requirements into computer code.
Compiles code into appropriate executables and corrects errors detected in compile process.
Creates unit test plans and the execution of tests to find errors and confirm that system and business requirements have been implemented.
Analyzes code to find root causes of errors and revises applications.
In accordance with our standards, prepares in-line code commenting and standalone documentation, reflecting the rationale, design, structure, testing and implementation of developed code.
Implements designs for new development or changes of Graphical User Interface (GUI) elements and reporting artifacts.
Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with software applications. Provides second tier support.
Provides ongoing guidance and monitoring to Programmers as part of assigned development projects.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelors Degree from 4 year institution, with emphasis in Information Technology, is preferred. Graduation from technical or junior college or partial university attendance, when combined with relevant course of instruction and/or relevant work experience in Information Technology is acceptable.
Demonstrated accomplishment in production level development work, including development and implementation of enterprise application and\or components thereof, utilizing object oriented principles and component based architectures in a multiple tier environment.
Demonstrated willingness and ability to lead and direct the work of more junior programmers.
